A THUG tried to kill a man, bottled a stranger and then left an innocent teenage girl horrifically scarred for life.

Malcolm Cumlin carried out the attacks between June 10 and September 27 last year.

The 31 year-old first pounced on Edward Sutherland outside a shop in Glasgow’s Lambhill.

He initially stabbed the 29 year-old in the rib area before chasing after Mr Sutherland and repeatedly knifing him.

Prosecutor Angela Gray told the High Court in Glasgow he suffered “significant” blood loss and needed emergency treatment for a number of chest wounds.

Cumlin next struck on July 8 when he attacked car wash worker Raid Ghotani.

The 18 year-old had only arrived in Scotland months earlier seeking refuge from the civil war in Syria.

Cumlin appearance at the car wash in the city’s Possilpark was thought to be linked to a “disgruntled” customer.

The teenager was not involved in that and had not met Cumlin.

But, Miss Gray said: “He approached from behind and struck Mr Ghotani on the face with a glass bottle.”

He then fled leaving the young man with a scar below his eye.

Cumlin finally left 18 year-old Kaitlyn Donnelly badly hurt at a flat in Possilpark.

She was there with others, but did not know Cumlin.

But, the teenager became annoyed when the thug suddenly called her a “cow”.

Cumlin insisted he would “slash” her, but Miss Donnelly did not think he was serious.

Prosecutor Miss Gray then said: “He told her to bend over so he could ‘show her’.

“Still believing him to be joking, she leaned towards him.

“Cumlin then ran the blade of a knife across her cheek slashing her from the ear to the corner of her mouth.”

The court heard Miss Donnelly will be left permanently scarred.

Cumlin - who the hearing was told already had an “extensive criminal record” - was held days later.

He pleaded guilty to attempting to murder Mr Sutherland as well as assaulting the other two victims to their severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

Lady Stacey remanded him in custody pending sentencing next month.
