CITY cops have warned households to be vigilant to protect themselves against cunning thieves looking to cash-in on Christmas presents lying around.
The force also urged people to avoid posting their Christmas presents on social media.
A spokesman for the force’s Glasgow North division said: “Don’t let opportunist ruin your Christmas this year.
“Keep your family and neighbours safe by being vigilant and report anything suspicious.”
Officers also offered top tips to keep families safe. They advised to lock all windows and doors. Don’t leave gifts in view of windows and keep cash in your home to a minimum.
When going out, use a timer to switch your lights on and consider leaving a radio on.
The force also urged motorists not to leave valuable items in their vehicles. Make sure your vehicle is locked and secure - and store the keys somewhere safe in your house out of sight for thieves.
Finally, officers said to be vigilant and keep an eye out for your neighbours property.
To report any suspicious activities call 101 or 999 in an emergency.
