WHILE parents are happy that schools are not breaking early or having an extended holiday spare a thought for school staff.

By breaking early this would have given staff a safety margin, in case a pupil tests positive for Covid, allowing them to enjoy Christmas with their family but now that’s in jeopardy.

Parents have to remember that despite politicians stating otherwise schools are NOT unpaid child minders which they are now being used as by this government.

Staff are dropping like flies after contracting Covid while working with children and suffering the effects of long Covid as a result.

So much for children not spreading the virus.

THE UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people. 2020 has been hard for everyone, especially for children with cancer and their families.

CLIC Sargent‘s Social workers have been on the frontline throughout the pandemic, helping bring light to young cancer patients and their families in their darkest times. And with Christmas coming, they’re working even harder to keep families together, to make sure they don’t have to worry about anything else. But they need your help. We are asking the public for their support so that we can be there for these families.

With the community’s support, donations will help fund CLIC Sargent’s Homes from Home service, which provides free accommodation for families near hospitals, so they can be close to their child whilst facing cancer this Christmas. Your support will also mean CLIC Sargent social workers can be there to provide practical, emotional and financial support. Please donate today to make sure no family has to face cancer alone, especially this Christmas – www.clicsargent.org.uk/christmas/

As well as donating, there are other ways the community in Glasgow can support CLIC Sargent’s vital work this Christmas. From visiting the charity’s online shop for Christmas shopping, to becoming a ‘Stamp Champ’ by collecting your used stamps from Christmas cards and other mail for CLIC Sargent. Details can be found on our website www.clicsargent.org.uk.

I’d like to say a personal thank you to everyone in the community who has supported CLIC Sargent this year.

AS usual people expect the council to do everything because God forbid that they actually go out and grit their own pavements or the fact that it was stoating it down late Wednesday into the early morning, so the grit was washed away but for some reason that’s the council’s fault (‘The weans are falling all over the place’: Glasgow is furious over lack of gritting, Glasgow Times online).

Time people got off their lazy **** and helped each other out or is that asking too much.

THE snowflake generation indeed. This is what living in Scotland is like, buy ice grips, drive sensibly.

I SEE parents just to continue to ignore road conditions when they are dropping off their children at the school gate.

Pedestrians are struggling to walk on the pavements, which haven’t been gritted as selfish motorists in their 4x4s just abandon their cars and ignore signs for no dropping off at school gates and then nearly run into people crossing the road as they speed off to work.
