A teenage girl has died after being struck by a car on a major Glasgow road last night.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Great Western Road around 7.45pm near its junction with Garscadden Road.

The 16-year-old was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where she sadly died.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “A 16-year-old girl has died following a collision on Great Western Road last night. (Saturday 5 December)

"Officers were called to the incident, near to the junction of Garscadden Road, around 7.45pm after reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

"The teenager was taken to The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she passed away.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
