Glasgow will leave the country's toughest levels of restrictions on Friday, it has been confirmed.

The First Minister previously said level four restrictions in 11 council areas would likely be lifted on December 11.

A review of the restrictions is due in two days time and will determine what restrictions will change or remain in place.

Health secretary Jeane Freeman confirmed the position of the Scottish Goverment's has not changed.

It comes after an interview with BBC Politics Scotland during which she said "all options were on the table".

She has now confirmed that her comments were in regards to which tier below level 4 these council areas will fall into.

Taking to Twitter following the interview she said: "11 local authorities currently in Level 4 will come out of that level on Friday.

"That position has not changed. The Cabinet will decide on Tuesday what level below 4 they’ll go into.

"My comments were intended to mean in respect of that decision, all options are on the table."

Earlier today speaking to BBC Scotland, she said: "Right now, as is always the case in advance of these reviews, a great deal of work is going on, analysing the data, talking to colleagues in local authorities, taking senior clinical advice, all of which is designed to help us reach a judgement about what is the right thing to do, and we'll announce that on Tuesday.

"All options are on the table at this point, as you would expect them to be. That doesn't mean – people shouldn't read from that any decision one way or the other.

"The work goes on over the weekend so that we have the most up-to-date data, the most up-to-date clinical advice, then we take a decision as a Cabinet on Tuesday and the First Minister makes that announcement on Tuesday."
