I’M heartened to see so many donations and sponsors lending their support to the Glasgow Times Christmas toy bank campaign.

In today’s society, no child should be going without. It’s sad that a newspaper has had to step in to help, but I’m glad something is being done.

I hope all the children of Glasgow have a wonderful Christmas.

I’M pleased to read that police are urging drivers to reduce their speed around two primary schools in Bishopbriggs (Reduce your speed around schools’: Cops warning over driving and parking near Bishopbriggs primaries, Glasgow Times online).

Residents in my estate have been in a long-running dialogue with East Dunbartonshire Council regarding issues with parents using our street opposite St Helen’s Primary in Bishopbriggs as an official drop-off point.

The parents are an absolute disgrace. They simply shout verbal abuse at residents who dare to ask them to move their cars when they abandon them in private spaces.

The council refuses to do anything, even though it’s the lack of parking provision at its schools that is causing the issue.

The police have been a great help and have attended when called but they don’t have the resources to attend every morning and afternoon.

Maybe parents could use public transport or use their legs and walk to school, instead of causing traffic congestion. Just a thought!

THE SNP seem to have something against people enjoying themselves (Majority of Scotland’s pubs and bars remain on ‘life support’, industry warns. Tuesday).

Minimum alcohol pricing and now stopping pubs selling booze – even if they can do it safely!

Vote them out.

I TRULY believe that the schools are a breading ground for Covid, and that the kids when they went back should have gone back part-time, instead they have sent all the kids back at the same time. Pupils and teachers are missing school because they are having to self isolate.

It’s bad enough that their generation are going to be left with the debt of this.

SO, Boris and his pals have agreed some deal with the EU.

Leave-voting England and Wales get their wish, Remain-voting Northern Ireland gets special treatment. Meanwhile, Remain-voting Scotland (and Glasgow, especially) ... nothing. Scandal.
