IT really is the most wonderful time of the year at an East End school – thanks to a unique festive display.

Pupils at Eastbank Primary have placed advent scenes on windows outside the education hub in a bid to spread some winter cheer.

The design covers 12 classrooms at the Gartocher Road school and has brought "much needed joy" to the local community.

Acting headteacher Angela McBurnie said: "There are a lot of things we are not getting to do as normal this year, like Christmas Day.

Glasgow Times:

"This was to engage the community and make sure the kids felt involved. Normally we'd have people in for the Christmas Fair and things like that but we can't this year.

"It's been really nice and such a reaction which we didn't expect.

"The kids are loving it and have been really excited about it. That's really helped to life their spirits."

Clips of the display have been widely shared online with the talented kids drawing plaudits from across Glasgow.

Glasgow Times:

"We just wanted to do something nice for the kids and the community," Ms McBurnie said.

"It's something we will probably take on and do again."
