MUSIC charity Big Noise Govanhill has announced plans for a virtual Christmas event.
The event, which takes place tonight at 6pm on the Big Noise Govanhill Facebook page, will showcase music and performances from kids and teenagers who take part in the group.
Elanor Gunn, team leader for Big Noise Govanhill, said:
"Our children and young people have worked so hard to keep practising their instruments and improve their musical skills, often in very difficult circumstances.
"Independent evaluation by the Glasgow Centre for Population Health shows that taking part in Big Noise helps children and young people to increase their creativity, determination and self-belief."
The group delivered activities online during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, with over 1,500 online lesson taking place, with face-to-face session now taking place again in partnership with local schools.
Big Noise Govanhill, a branch of the Sistema Scotland group, has been helped with funding from Glasgow City Council and People’s Postcode Lottery among others.
Stephanie Kerr, programmes advisor at People’s Postcode Lottery, said: “It's heartening to see how the team at Sistema Scotland have risen to this year’s challenges whilst continuing to connect with children, young people and families across Scotland.
