A POPULAR Indian restaurant has been recognised with a top award.

Charcoals Glasgow in the city centre have been has won Best Asian Restaurant in the Glasgow and West category at this year’s Asian Restaurant Awards Scotland

The eatery was up against restaurants across Glasgow and the West. 

Members of the public were asked to nominate their favourite spots online and judges narrowed over 50 restaurants down to just 15 winners.

Charcoals manager Muhammad Sultan said:"It’s great to be appreciated for the hard work we do.

"We look after our customer as our guests.

"And in the lockdown time we have delivered as far as we can."

Asian Catering Federation Chairman Yawar Khan said: “I would like to thank all our sponsors, supporters and members who have made these awards possible.

The Scottish Asian Restaurant Awards are a key event for our industry.

Not only do they recognise the excellence of Asian and Oriental restaurants in Scotland, but they also celebrate the significant contribution our industry makes to the economy."
