PUPILS brought some Christmas fun to the elderly by singing carols outside a Milton care home.
Miltonbank Primary School’s P4 pupils love to sing and were devastated they could not put on their annual nativity play, said headteacher Adele Bowman.
“They were really down about the fact that they couldn’t do their usual Christmas celebrations,” she added.
“Usually at this time of year they are preparing for their nativity and singing lots of songs.
“One of the children suggested we go carolling in the street and I thought: We have a care home right beside us and some of these residents haven’t been over the door since March, so why don’t we go there and try to give something back to the community?”
The pupils performed at the Ashgill Care Home in Liddesdale Square on Thursday, December 17.
“The primary fours just love to sing,” said Mrs Bowman. “They’re such a happy bunch of kids and they were just gutted they couldn’t do the nativity and we’re pretty limited with singing too unless we’re outside.
“They’re the kids right at the front who pull the show together. They were definitely born for the stage this lot.”
The elderly residents of the care home looked delighted to receive the thoughtful visit.
