A GLASGOW veteran’s charity is celebrating ten years of service.

Glasgow’s Helping Heroes (GHH) was started a decade ago to help ex-servicemen and women across the city by the SSAFA veterans charity and Glasgow City Council.

The service acts as a one stop shop where veterans can access services such as financial, housing and employability advice. They also raise awareness of issues affecting ex-soldiers.

Rachel Tribble from GHH said: “We are incredibly proud of what GHH stands for and the impact we have every day. 10 years is an incredible milestone and an interesting one to reach during a pandemic.

"We miss being in our office that people can pop into, but we have been working hard during the pandemic to reduce digital poverty, ensure that clients have access to food and prescriptions during lockdown, making sure people have a place to live safely and celebrating local veterans birthdays who are separated from their families in care homes, sending them best wishes and cake.”

Sir Andrew Gregory, Chief Executive of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity said: “Glasgow’s Helping Heroes work hard in their local community and we are extremely proud of this service here at SSAFA.

"Thank you for all that you do to support and make a positive impact on the Armed Forces community.”
