UPDATE: Person dies after being hit by train in Lanarkshire near Motherwell
A PERSON has been hit by a train in Lanarkshire.
Emergency services rushed to the scene between Lanark and Motherwell after the alarm was raised this afternoon.
The line is currently closed and the condition of the person is unknown.
A ScotRail spokesperson said: "Sadly, we have received reports of a person being struck by a train between Motherwell and Lanark.
"We've had to close the line while the emergency services attend."
The Glasgow Times has contacted British Transport Police for comment.
