I FOUND great joy in taking a stroll through Hogganfield Nature Reserve. They have recently installed new photographs of local wildlife around the park and it has improved its appearance tenfold. Now even the shabbiest areas of the park are brightened up by a picture of some baby ducks, a gracious swan or even a handsome goose.

It was truly wonderful to visit a public space which celebrates the delightful array of wildlife on our doorstep as well as our talented photographers who skilfully capture it.

Perhaps other public spaces in Glasgow could learn a lesson or two from Hogganfield!

MANY have missed their traditional big Christmas this year, but that hasn’t bothered me much – mine are usually quiet anyway.

What I’ll really miss in this terrible year is Hogmanay. There’s nothing like a big party to see in the new year and I worry we’re getting 2021 off on a bad footing with no first footing this year.

There’s not much to be done but a wee dram watching the bells on the telly just doesn’t really cut it, does it?

THE place you are most at risk of spreading coronavirus is in your own home, not outdoors (Medics call for facemasks to be worn outdoors, December 28).

And I think they will also probably discover at a later date the one thing everyone has in common is their mobile phone – nothing to do with 5G at all but because they are magnets for virus and bacteria. They are taken everywhere, touched constantly, people touch other people’s phones (at times people take them out of your hands without thinking if you try to show them something). They are put down on surfaces (which you don’t know are clean or not) and put in bags, pockets... how many times do you wipe your phone clean in the course of the day? How many times do you wash your hands before you touch your phone?

COUNTRIES with the lowest Covid-19 cases have been wearing masks outdoors for months. In the UK we see ourselves as different. Something to do with civil liberties.
