THE South Side is absolutely atrocious – cars slithering all over (Warning as sheets of ‘black ice’ hit Glasgow, Glasgow Times online).

Believe me this is not unusual as I have emails and letters going back 26 years telling the powers that be that it makes more sense to grit to stop it taking up precious NHS beds for fractures.

No matter who is council leader, they have never taken heed.

Yes there are yellow bins but how do you get out to them in the first instance?

My sister in Dumfries was given a small trolley-type gritter with a tube that when pressed released grit – ideal, one would have thought.

However, it’s so heavy, the elderly can’t push it and the council said it would pick it up – well that was years ago and it’s still lying in her garden.

So you see, it’s not just Glasgow, it’s all over.

More missed hospital appointments, more car damage and more in-patient accidents.

Think Glasgow City Council – lead the way with your gritting.

WHERE are all the gritters Nicola Sturgeon?

Are they on lockdown? The roads and pavements are treacherous.

Is this just another move to make sure people don’t leave their homes in your fight against a virus with a 99.5 per cent recovery rate.

I REFER to the letters in Saturday’s Glasgow Times, by correspondents Graham and AR, which were critical to my letter from December 30.

AR appears to be in a state of confusion with his comments about David Cameron, as I had not made any comments in my letter about David Cameron, or Alex Salmond.

However Graham, the other writer, is not singing from the same hymn sheet
as AR.

Glasgow Times: Nicola Sturgeon

In his futile attempts to defend Boris Johnson’s indefensible reputation of his lies and deceit to the nation.

Graham has addressed the contents of my letter, out of context.

In the second half of his letter, Graham has altered course, for whatever reason, with his issues now being directed towards the SNP and the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, a well respected Scottish politician.
