A ghost town Glasgow has returned as a country-wide coronavirus lockdown kicked in from today.
Scotland woke to March-style restrictions this morning as the 'stay at home' message was reimposed to locals at every council authority from midnight.
The laws mean Scots should only leave their houses for essential purposes only, with schools also closed until at least February.
It is hoped the measures will prevent any further transmission of a new, faster spreading Covid-19 strain.
Glasgow's busiest shopping streets have been pictured as almost deserted with few members of the public and police patrols on the first day of the tougher restrictions.
