PLANNING permission has been put forward to transform a city centre restaurant into a hotel.
Owners of Mamafubu Pan Asian Bistro on Glassford Street have applied to the local authority to change the use of the existing premises.
Currently, the listed building is used for a licensed eatery and chef’s training school with additional office space.

Under the plans, owners hope to transform the building into a 31-bed hotel with a bar and reception area on the ground floor.
The bar will be open to both customers and members of the public, with the kitchen providing food to the bar as well as room service.
The proposal reads: “The surrounding area is a highly commercial area of Glasgow city centre and the proposal has carefully considered of the character and amenity of the surrounding area.
“It is therefore clear from the above, notwithstanding the existing permission, that a hotel use would be highly acceptable in this location and would be in full accordance with the policies of the Glasgow City Development Plan.”
