John Kennedy has provided an update on Shane Duffy after the defender returned early from the Hoops' training camp in Dubai.

The Brighton loanee jetted back to his home early due to a family issue and Hoops supporters were quick to question whether he may be returning to his parent club.

But Kennedy has revealed that Celtic hope to keep Duffy for the remainder of the season.

“Shane will be very much with us,” Kennedy said. “We have no intention of sending him back to Brighton.”

Meanwhile, Celtic face an anxious wait for their round of Covid-19 testing following their return from Dubai.

Neil Lennon's side returned late last night ahead of Monday's Scottish Premiership clash against Hibs. 

Test results should arrive on Sunday just hours before the scheduled league match.

Kennedy explained: "We were tested on arrival when we got back last night. There is usually a 24 hour turnaround time for that.

"We should receive the results for that in the next day or so."
