The local authority warned the local business if it is caught disregarding the rules again then they will “return with police”.

A Glasgow City Council spokeswoman said: “Officers visited the salon following a complaint and the salon was reminded of the current regulations and ceased trading.

“We will return with police if this business flouts the rules again – they are in place to help keep everyone safe.”

After being ordered to close, owners wrote on Instagram:  “Council at the door there. Game over.

“If you had an appointment today it’s cancelled.”

Local Conservative councillor Euan Blockley condemned the salon for operating during the restrictions.

He said: “While these restrictions are undoubtedly challenging for businesses in Cathcart and throughout the city, it is nevertheless vital on the basis of public health that everyone complies with the rules.

“It is the responsibility of the Scottish Government to use the considerable resources provided to them by the UK Government to compensate businesses affected by lockdown measures. It is further the responsibility of Glasgow’s SNP led Council Administration to ensure that business support is delivered in a timely manner.

“The poor track record of both the Scottish Government and Glasgow City Council in the provision of grants to the city’s businesses must not be repeated during these new painful set of restrictions.”

Earlier this month, we reported on a Tollcross tanning salon also being ordered to cease trading after being caught in operation after Christmas Day.

Since December 26, the entirety of mainland Scotland has been placed under tougher measures to curb the spread of a new, faster spreading strain of coronavirus.

Laws mean all businesses deemed as non-essential have been ordered to close - including beauty parlours, hairdressers, barbers, pubs, restaurants and cafes.
