Nicola Sturgeon revealed another big increase in coronavirus cases.

The daily figures showed there were another 1782 positive tested cases recorded in Scotland, with 595 in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area.

The number of positive tested cases has now reached more than 150,000 in Scotland since the pandemic began.

The total is now 151,548 positive tested cases.

There were 1664 people in hospital, an increase of 126 in 24 hours and there were 126 in intensive care, an increase of 3.

Ms Sturgeon said the number in hospital was now quite a bit higher than in the spring peak last year.

The First Minister revealed there had been 163,377 vaccinations carreid out with the first dose of either the Pfizer vacine or the Astrazeneca vaccine.

The number will be updated every day to show the progress of the programme.

Ms Sturgeon said that there were now 1100 vaccination sites in operation and athat everyone over the age of 80 should be vaccinated within four weeks and all over 70s by the middle of February.
