FIVE vehicles were involved in a crash on the M8 in Glasgow this morning, sparking an emergency response. 

It is not thought anyone involved in the smash was injured but a lane eastbound carriage of the motorway was closed close to Cardonald, according to Traffic Scotland.

It after police in the city warned drivers this morning only to travel if necessary due to potentially icy conditions.

A police spokeswoman said: "Officers are currently dealing with a five-vehicle road traffic crash on the eastbound carriageway of the M8 motorway at Junction 25. 

"There are no reports of any injuries."
