AN old Drumchapel police station has been converted into an Army Cadets facility.

The three-year project included renovation of the building on Kinfaus Drive and is understood to provide young people with one of the best equipped facilities in the area – including multiple classrooms, a large drill hall and an outdoor parade space.

The Army Cadet Force (ACF) has almost 40,000 Cadets in more than 1600 detachments all over Scotland.

Colonel Alex McNamee, Commandant of Glasgow and Lanarkshire Battalion ACF, said: “It is with great pleasure that I can witness the project completion of this excellent facility that will not only benefit the ACF in the Drumchapel area but will benefit the local community – providing a secure and easy to access youth group ... this facility will ensure that we continue to be a thriving member of the local area.”
