STAFF at a Glasgow Tesco store have tested positive for Covid-19.

The supermarket confirmed that the number of employees who have caught the virus is a "very small number", and that they are self-isolating.

In a statement, Tesco said they have extensive measures across all of their stores.

A spokesman said: “A very small number of colleagues at our Parkhead Forge Extra are off work due to Covid-19.

"The safety of our colleagues, customers and suppliers remains our number one priority and we are working with local public health authorities, following all Scottish Government guidance, including when colleagues need to self-isolate, and taking the relevant precautions.

"We have extensive measures across all of our stores to help keep everyone safe, including protective screens at every checkout, a traffic light system at our store entrance monitoring numbers, social distancing signage and regular cleaning.”

“To protect our customers and colleagues, we won’t let anyone into our stores who is not wearing a face covering, unless they are exempt in line with government guidance.

"We are also asking our customers to shop alone, unless they’re a carer or with children. Our colleagues are working hard in difficult circumstances to make sure everyone can get what they need, and we’d ask everyone to please be kind, patient and respectful as we all work to keep each other safe.”
