A WOMAN today appeared in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow and denied murdering her husband.

Lorna Middleton, 35, is accused of murdering 38-year-old William Middleton by striking him on the body with a knife or similar instrument, scratching his face and neck with a sharp instrument and compress his neck. On June 26, 2020, at 14A Singer Street, Clydebank.

It is claimed that she refused police officers access to the flat and prevented her husband, who was originally from Dumbarton and was known as Billy, from receiving medical assistance.

Defence QC Donald Findlay entered a not guilty plea on Middleton's behalf and entered a special defence of self defence.

Prosecutor Blair Speed said: “The trial is estimated to take seven days.”

The case was continued until April in the hope a trial date can be fixed.

Judge Lady Stacey told Middleton: “Due to the pandemic I can't fix a trial. I hope by the next diet we will be able to give you a date for trial, but I can't guarantee it.”

Middleton, who is on remand,  also denies behaving in an abusive or threatening manner at the flat and attempting to head-butt Constable John Muir.
