A CITY centre street has been shut down this evening due to a "dangerous" building.
Emergency contractors currently attend the scene on Hope Street to deal with the incident.
The road is currently closed off to all traffic between West George Street and West Regent Street. Motorists are being advised to use alternative routes.
A statement from Glassgow City Council's Traffic and Information Bulletin reads: "Hope Street is currently closed to all traffic between West George Street and West Regent Street due to a dangerous building.
"A crane is currently on site and contractors are dealing with the incident.
"Further updates will be issued when more information becomes available."
A Glasgow City Council spokeswoman said: “Hope Street is currently closed between West George Street and West Regent Street due to dangerous chimney stack.
"Building Standards are in attendance.”
