THE family of a teacher who died suddenly during the Christmas holidays have asked for people to pay tribute to him in a special way.

The Glasgow Times told yesterday how Rosshall Academy Active Schools Coordinator John Kynaston suffered a devastating heart attack at the start of this month and passed away days later.

Colleagues and pupils from the school rushed to pay tribute to the hugely popular 61-year-old, saying his legacy would live on in Rosshall.

Now his family have asked that, in light of coronavirus restrictions to funeral numbers, people pay tribute in a way that he would have loved.

They asked that, on Sunday, January 17 between 3pm and 4pm, people walk or run in his memory.

And they hope those doing so will post pictures to social media.

A statement from the family reads: "We have all been blown away by the stories and tributes to our wonderful Dad and husband.

"Many people have asked about a funeral or how to support us on the day, and we thank you for that.

"Instead, we ask you to celebrate Dad's life with us in the way he would most love.

"We are holding a private service of memory on Sunday at 3pm.

"If you would like to celebrate his life with us, we invite you to walk or run in his memory between 3-4pm this Sunday, 17th January.

"Please post your photos so we can see them and think about how Dad would absolutely delight in seeing everyone out running.

"Thanks for your continued support and love."

The request is signed from John's wife of 35 years, Katrina, and his four daughters, Jo, Emma, Laura, Hollie and their families
