CALLOUS firebugs torched a Glasgow primary school, leaving teachers and parents shocked by the damage.

St Catherine's Primary School was targeted by louts last night who started a blaze in a bin beside the school.

One wrote: "Absolutely disgusting behaviour. Our kids are going through enough as it is. Hope you can find out who done it."

Another said: "Disgusting  I heard and saw the fire brigade but didn't know it was for the school. Hopefully, they will be caught."

Police are treating the fire as willful and have launched an investigation.

Glasgow Times:

While pictures posted on social media show the walls of the school scorched by flames, there was thankfully no significant damage and the school confirmed it will open as normal on Monday morning.

A spokeswoman for Glasgow city council said: "A minor fire within a bin store caused by vandals has been dealt with appropriately and the school remains unaffected.”

Because all but the most vulnerable pupils and the children of key workers are being taught from home due to coronavirus restrictions, few will be in the school tomorrow morning.
