A MAN was rushed to hospital after a fire broke out in a flat in the early hours of this morning. 

Emergency crews were called to Grosvenor Crescent when the alarm was raised at around 3.30am. 

The West End home was evacuated and a man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for assessment. His condition is unknown at this time.

Firefighters left the scene once the area had been made safe and there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances behind the blaze. 

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were alerted at 3.37am on Monday to reports of a fire in the basement of a property on Grosvenor Crescent, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised six appliances to the incident and the fire has now been extinguished.

“One casualty was taken to hospital.

“Crews have now left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Around 3.55am on Monday officers were called to the Grosvenor Crescent area of Glasgow, to assist Scottish Fire and Rescue Service following a report of a fire at a property.

"The property was evacuated and one man taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for assessment. There were no serious injuries reported. The fire is not believed to be suspicious."
