SO the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, is getting tetchy because politicians, journalists and Scottish pensioners keep asking her why she is lagging behind the rest of the UK in rolling out the Covid vaccination programme.

Perhaps if Nicola and her ministers focused on the vaccine rollout rather than in setting up an SNP Party Policies College and wasting time and energy on an independence campaign, when so many Scots are fighting for

every breath in ICUs and the over-70/80s in Scotland are anxiously watching the TV showing the over 70s in England, Ireland and Wales having their vaccines.

We need action, Nicola – so far only 260,000 of the 750,000 as of January 15 that Scotland received have been used; the Scottish

BMA say GPs received only 100 vaccines each to do ALL of their over-80s!

Your eye-rolling and tetchy replies are becoming wearing, so STOP micro- managing, pass the vaccines on to the Army to distribute and get the job done!

WHY all the clamour in the media to have Maryhill Library named after former MP Maria Fyfe?

Could someone define what she actually did for Maryhill, or to deserve such an accolade, as she never lived in the constituency, or indeed in Maryhill?

Many politicians have used, and still do, the library premises as their constituency offices.

People should get a grip of history, rather than soon-to-be passing emotions.

The Library already has a name, after a very distinguished lady, who gave her name and a historical identity that will last forever. Her name? Mary Hill (1730-1809)

I’M considering embracing independence for the first time after 50 years’ activism in a very different movement.

Many powerful arguments lead me, and one of the most powerful is the person of the First Minister.

She is the anchor and the symbol of a mature and responsible government, and for now the only real hope of holding the middle ground and bringing the nation with her.

No movement for independence can afford to lose this leader. None before her had anything like the stature.

If there is substance in the recurring accusations of wrongdoing in the legal wrangling with her predecessor, there is only one way past that: admission, apology, understanding and forgiveness from the public.

Anything else leads to unnecessary tragedy. I don’t name examples because I don’t need to.

I don’t believe the First Minister has been incompetent enough to set a time-bomb for herself, but if she has she should say so and the nation should move on with her.

As it stands, I believe what she’s saying, and that accusations of misdemeanour on her part are guesswork and nonsense.

I THINK local government officials, councillors, ministers and the chief executive of Glasgow City Council could do their bit for the city.

I bet they are sitting at home. They could, for example, be out helping to replace broken lights, empty the over-filled bins and sweep our littered, filthy streets.

WE asked readers whether they will be booking holidays abroad this year after comments from Professor Jason Leitch. Here’s a selection of comments...

I HAVE a holiday booked for September to Florida.

Everything is fully refundable apart from flights which can be changed to another date free of charge.

I understand if I can’t go, but I feel horrific for those in both the hospitality and aviation industry who are watching their jobs disappear before their eyes. I hope we can eventually get the industry going again.

I HAVE a month in the Maldives booked for March. It doesn’t look like I will be going now.

I RECKON he’s right. I can’t see anyone getting abroad before next year at this rate.
