Aberdeen fans have been reacting to the news that Scott Wright has signed a pre-contract with Rangers.

The young Don has been tracked by Steven Gerrard and finally put pen to paper on a deal which will take him from Pittodrie to Ibrox this summer.

Derek McInnes was keen to keep the player for the rest of the season, which he has managed, but supporters were disappointed to lose the player. Though some urged the club to allow him to leave now.

One fan moaned: "This is worse than Ryan Jack to be honest!", and another added: "Silly silly boy." One wrote: "Banish him to the reserves. Boyhood Dons fan?" A fourth told social media: "Absolute madness. Either he stays or goes. Wtf is wrong with this club."

Others were frustrated with the decision but accepted the player wanted to move on. One said: "I can't like this. But all the best Scott! Hope you have a great career! Sad to see you go so soon!"

Another wrote: "Terrible fans giving Scott abuse. Hes signed for a better club with European football, more trophy prospects and obviously a higher wage. It’s a no brainer for him to go!"

Wright becomes Gerrard's first signing of the window with Bournemouth duo Jack Simpson and Nnamdi Ofoborh closing in on pre-contract deals, too.
