THE Renfrew Ferry has been grounded at Yoker due to a "big gust of wind".

Its operator confirmed that the main boat was caught by a gale which has forced it to remain on the northern bank of the River Clyde.

Another boat is being used to transport workers across the water in the meantime.

The ferry's operators said: "A big gust of wind caught the back end of the boat and grounded it at Yoker.

"Not to worry though, the other boat is in service for rest of the shift.

"The main boat was due a hull inspection next week, so I guess it's come early."

The service is allowed to open during the current coronavirus restrictions as a form of public transport to be used by essential workers going to and from their jobs.
