An outraged Glasgow doctor working on ICU wards has blasted a social media influencer who claimed her trip to Dubai was "essential work".

Dr Andrew Mackay, an anesthetics consultant, slammed Sheridan Mordew after she defended her trips abroad to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on ITV's This Morning earlier this week.

She claimed her jaunts aborad helped to "motivate" people with their housework during the pandemic.

She said: "It’s my job. My job is to motivate people, do you know what I mean?

“My job is to help people get fit and be motivated whether it’s in the house, or it’s in Dubai.

“I’m doing my kind of thing. If anything I’m getting people motivated in the house. The purpose of what I’m doing is to motivate people.”

Fury soon erupted on social media after a clip was shared of her riding a camel.

After watching the programme, an infuriated Dr Mackay Tweeted: "I was debating whether or not to go into work in ICU tomorrow.

"Fortunately, this video of Sheridan riding a camel in the desert has motivated me to go in. I’ll show it to the nurses when they’re on a break and hopefully they’ll find it as inspirational as I did."

He added: "If only a UK influencer on essential travel to Dubai could post this as part of a short video on how to get abs or lose 7lbs in a week, maybe more people would be interested in this statistic."
