BORIS Johnson failed to name Castlemilk just hours after visiting a Covid vaccination hub in the neighbourhood.

The Prime Minister referred to the South Side district only as a “Glasgow area” when speaking of his trip to the city today.

Mr Johnson met British Army troops in the Glasgow Club Castlemilk, on Dougrie Road, this morning as preparations continue to get the site ready to give a coronavirus vaccine to locals.

Mr Johnson, who earlier visited the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, said: “It is fantastic to see real Scottish academic expertise coming to bear.

"I went to see the army setting up a vaccination centre in the Glasgow area.

“It has been done very fast and there is terrific progress from Monday.

Glasgow Times:

"It is inspiring to see Scottish troops and soldiers working to get the vaccine in the arms of people in Scotland.”

Mr Johnson, whose trip to the city has been criticised by some as “non-essential”, also told of his desire to not see another independence referendum even if the SNP gains a majority in May’s election.
