PERHAPS someone can explain what the definition is of ‘essential’ shops.

In my part of Glasgow I see many shops still open which could hardly be classified as essential.

Think many are simply chancing their luck as there appears to be checking process in operation.

There also appears to be more activity in car travel than before.

IN response to MJSM views regarding Partick Thistle FC he/she states they have never been based or played in Maryhill in their history

I would point out to MJSN that the Firhill district is a sub district of Maryhill as is the Botany, Maryhill Park, Woodside, and other district areas of Maryhill.

As to the proposed name change to Maryhill library (Carnegie Library), I have no views on this matter but it has been named after Mary Hill.  MJSM says he is a passionate supporter of not Partick Thistle but Maryhill history, I would suggest when the library reopens he looks up areas that make up the districts of Maryhill.

A LOT of businesses will need to diversify and change with the times (‘It’ll be enough to cover one month’s rent’: City businesses still face closure despite new fund, Friday).

With online shopping killing high street shops, Amazon and eBay especially, it will take more than government/council funding to be able to see local traders through this horrendous time.

LITTLE shops used to fill the gap when big retailers closed at 6pm and on Sundays.

Those days ended 25 years ago and the number of corner shops has collapsed since then.

Giving money to save a business that was already on life support is wasteful.

WITH regards to reopening schools in Scotland, I think parents really need some guidance as soon as possible.

Keeping primaries and high schools closed any longer than February will do serious damage to the education of our children.

I think teaching staff should be vaccinated now in order for students to return to class.

Homeschooling can be easy for some families, but for many it is not an option. Having to juggle two children at home while I work is proving challenging. I hope John Swinney can make a decision sooner rather than later.

BORIS JOHNSON’S visit to Scotland was still sparking many comments online. Here’s a selection from Facebook...

NO need for him to come up here. Just think about how much that visit cost. Oh that’s right, it is Boris, so he can break the rules but we can’t.

Caroline Fullerton Thomson

HE was on official business regarding the vaccine and he is the Prime Minister of the UK, so I’m sure we didn’t move planets over night and we are still in the UK.

Leah Vance

HE’S our Prime Minister, some of you shouting for independence – what has Nicola Sturgeon done with UK government money?

Hugh McGarvey

YOU can’t visit your family but you can go to work.  He wasn’t visiting family, he was working.

Peter Glenburn

THE visit was purely party political – nothing to do with his job as PM.
