BORIS Johnson’s visit to Scotland last week was a futile attempt to gather further support for his opposition to Scottish Independence.

During his visit he called at Castlemilk in Glasgow, which could hardly be described as a bastion of Tory voters.

With most of Scotland in lockdown, the last person we would wish to see would be Boris Johnson, the most unpopular British Prime Minister to visit Scotland since the despised late Mrs Thatcher and her “Poll Tax”.

NICOLA Sturgeon can’t answer simple questions in parliament about GPs not being able to vaccinate their patients due to having no vaccines, yet her supporters can’t wait to moan about Boris visiting Scotland as UK premier and leader of the nation providing the funding to fight the pandemic.

These are funds we wouldn’t have had if we had voted differently in 2014.

The silent majority in Scotland will reject any future referendum especially with Ms Sturgeon’s performance in parliament this week and when the costs of spurious criminal prosecutions under her reign and by her staff are fully released.

DOUBT if I have heard more spiteful comments about an individual than those directed at Catherine Calderwood in recent days. You would think she had committed some heinous crime that would have her tarred and feathered.

Yes, she broke the rules and she accepted the punishment of losing her job. She was recently, after due process of interviews etc, awarded a post in a hospital.

Do these critics think she should be unemployable for the rest of her days? She is a highly talented person in her field and still has a lot to offer the NHS.

When you think of Dominic Cummings and others in the UK Government who have blatantly broken the rules and been allowed to swan about with the full blessing of a prime minister who is no stranger himself to breaking the rules, then you are left wondering about the motivations of these critics.

INCREDIBLE effort from everyone involved, well done (Rangers fans raise £60,000 for Red Arrows to mark 55th league title, Glasgow Times online).
