A THUG who knocked out a stranger with a bottle of Buckfast has been jailed for 15 months.
Dominic Humble pounced on Daniel McLaughlin as he waited for a train at Glasgow’s Carntyne station on September 19 last year.
The 22 year-old had initially brandished the weapon before striking the victim once on the head.
Humble pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault to Mr McLaughlin’s injury.
The court heard the stricken victim had been at a house with friends before leaving at 6pm.
Mr McLaughlin was waiting at the station’s platform and Humble later turned up clutching the bottle.
Prosecutor Claire Wallace said: “He approached the victim and brandished the bottle of Buckfast.
“He proceeded to strike Mr McLaughlin with it resulting in him falling to the ground and he became unresponsive.”
A 999 call was made and Humble fled the scene but was later arrested at his home.
Garvey McCardle, defending, told the court Humble is currently serving a community payback order for a domestic matter.
