STEVEN GERRARD labelled Rangers' abject performance against Hamilton as their worst of the season as the champions-elect were held by the side bottom of the Premiership.

A Brian Easton own goal ten minutes from time looked to have moved Rangers within five wins of the title this term but Ross Callachan netted with the last kick of the ball to deny them victory.

Gerrard confirmed after the game that Rangers will defend the Notice of Complaint against striker Kemar Roofe after he was cited by the Scottish FA for his challenge on Murray Davidson during the win over St Johnstone last week.

And the Ibrox boss pulled no punches in his assessment of Rangers' showing in Lanarkshire despite seeing his side extend their unbeaten league run and move another step closer to the Premiership title.

Gerrard said: “I am disappointed and I am frustrated at our own performance. I'm frustrated at myself.

“When you take the lead but concede with the last kick of the game it's quite natural to feel like that.

“But I think when the dust settles I'll be quite relieved we've taken a point away today because I don't think we deserved anything out the game.

“Our performance wasn't good enough – both sides of the game were not there today.

“We have been absolutely terrific up until this point but today we just weren't at the races.

“I think our support around the world watching that game will be disappointed today as well.

“That's for me and the players to take responsibility for as that wasn't the Rangers we've seen up until this point.

“It's the easy way out to say it's a bad day at the office. We had one of them at St Mirren and that's the reason we can't win a League Cup.

“Today was worse. I thought that was our worst performance of the season. Individual performances today weren't good enough.

“Our keeper has been the busiest of both goalies and kept us in the game. He's the reason we're taking a point out of the game. It would have been a smash and grab from us.

“So look we got what we deserved. We could have got a worse result but we never really looked like a Rangers team until we made some changes.

"I thought the subs done really well and I'm happy with Allan. Outside of that it's difficult to praise.

“The players up until this point have been absolutely terrific – but I can't find no praise for that performance today."
