A MAN caught growing cannabis in his house said he found it "most cost effective" than buying the drug.
On June 7, 2019, cops acting on intelligence entered Alan Kelly's house with a search warrant.
They found the 41-year-old was cultivated three plants in his Knightswood home.
Glasgow Sheriff Court, where Kelly pleaded guilty to the charge, heard he had been using the drug for 20 years.
Kelly's defence agent told the court: "Mr Kelly has been using cannabis for about 20 years.
"He finds it more cost effective to grow his own."
The lawyer added that Kelly also has responsibility for looking after his mum, who has arthritis.
Sheriff Allan Findlay fined Kelly £100 per plant but dropped the penalty to £230 to reflect his guilty plea.
He will have to pay the money off at £15 a week.
