PRESTWICK Airport was transformed into 1980s Soviet Russia yesterday for the filming of a new Hollywood blockbuster featuring actor Taron Egerton.

Film crews were spotted at the airport on Monday, February 8, to shoot scenes for the upcoming Falling Blocs: Tetris movie starring Egerton, who plays Dutch businessman Henk Rogers, a front-runner in the formation of The Tetris Company, and Nikita Efrenov, who takes on the role of Alexey Pajitnov - a Russian programmer behind the video game.

Glasgow Times:

Turned into 1980s Moscow, the airport grounds were filled with motors from the era which were adorned with Russian registration plates alongside numerous cameras and large filming equipment which hung overhead.

Coming across the action while out for some daily exercise, a Prestwick man said onlookers could not spot much and that people near the terminal area, presumably film crew, were simply standing around or seeking shelter from the cold wind.

Glasgow Times:

Last month, filming for the Soviet-themed movie began in Glasgow, where masked film crew, trailers and actors in costume were spotted on Morrison Street in Tradeston and Battlefield Road, as well as outside Hampden Park.

Glasgow Times:

Rocketman star Egerton sported a striking moustache which caught the eye of many Glaswegians.

Filming is due to continue in Glasgow at least until February 26.
