Aberdeen assistant boss Tony Docherty has slammed the yob who abused Florian Kamberi on social media.

The Dons striker had an insult aimed at him by a keyboard warrior who said, 'A can't wait for the day you die' on Instagram.

It comes in the wake of controversy surrounding the social media channel last week when James McClean was subjected to death threats and horrific abuse and the likes of Rangers' Alfredo Morelos and Celtic's Jonathan Afolabi being hit with racist taunts.

Docherty, who was only made aware of the incident this morning, hit out at the person involved and insisted more must be done to combat it. And he heaped praise on ex-Gers and Hibs striker Kamberi for having a positive enough mindset to handle the issue with dignity and restraint.

He said: "I'm not a big follower of social media, but I was made aware this morning. I need to stress that it's totally unacceptable at every level. Knowing Flo and the kind of character he is, I don't think it will affect him. I don't know the exact ins and outs of it but he's got a strong personality and we'll get round him because he's our player.

"Since he's come in the building we've been really impressed with him, not just with his footballing ability, but with his personality and enthusiasm.

"We'll make sure we get round him. It's just totally unacceptable."
