Traffic Scotland warned this may cause some delays after a traffic build-up while the fire was tackled.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We were called at around 9.20am following reports of a vehicle on fire on the M80 at junction three southbound in Lanarkshire.

"A vehicle was on fire in the hard shoulder. Fire crews were in attendance."

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the fire was extinguished.
