Members of staff at a key Glasgow superstore are currently self-isolating after a Covid outbreak among employees.

Contact tracing is now underway to identify close contacts of those to have tested positive at the Tesco Extra in St Rollox. 

The retailer confirmed that "a very small number" of workers have been affected.

Bosses said that management are taking "extensive measures" to ensure the safety of customers and employees.

A Tesco spokeswoman said: “A very small number of colleagues at our St Rollox store have tested positive  for COVID-19. Their close contacts have been informed.

"The safety of our colleagues, customers and suppliers remains our number one priority and we are working with local public health authorities, following all Government guidance and taking the relevant precautions.

"We have extensive measures across all of our stores to help keep everyone safe, including protective screens at every checkout, social distancing signage and regular cleaning.”
