NEIL Lennon has resigned as Celtic manager with immediate effect following the club's poor recent form.

The Hoops trail rivals Rangers by 18 points in the Scottish Premiership and have long since given up in their attempts to make it an unprecedented ten titles in a row.

Lennon's assistant John Kennedy will take interim charge of the team until a replacement is found.
