TWO teenagers have died following a crash between a van and motorbike in Lanarkshire yesterday. 

Police have confirmed the youths passed away after being involved in an incident close to the junction of Ryde Road and Waverley Drive, in Wishaw, at around 4.30pm. 

The driver of the dirt bike, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene and the second man, 19, lost his life a short time later in Wishaw General Hospital.

The 34-year-old driver of the white Volkswagen Crafter van suffered minor injuries.

Police locked down the road for a number of hours last night. 

Sergeant Ryan McAuley, of the Road Policing Unit in Motherwell, said: "Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this crash.

"Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and we would urge anyone with information to come forward.

"Anyone who may have dashcam or private CCTV footage is asked to check this and pass on anything of note to police."
