Gordon Hay doused Kirsty Feeney, 24, with a flammable liquid - thought to be lighter fluid - at a her flat in Parkhead last July.

The 42-year-old also later threatened to set on fire her partner Vincent McGill, 24, with a lit aerosol can in November last year.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard a 17-year-old girl Hay knew had previously dated Miss Feeney's brother.

This relationship was said to have not ended "amicably".

Lauren Aitchison, defending, told the hearing: "Mr Hay said the girl was assaulted by numerous members of this family and that weapons were used.

“She had screamed down the phone asking for his help.”

Sheriff Joseph Platt said: "The way you dealt with this does cause me concern."
