MOTORISTS have been issued a warning from Scottish Water who plan to carry out works to improve the water mains network in Ibrox.

A short section of the east-bound carriageway of Edmiston Drive will be closed near its junction with Paisley Road West and adjacent to the south end of Whitefield Road for 10 days from Tuesday, March 9.

Access to Paisley Road West from Edmiston Drive will be via Broomloan Road.

The west-bound carriageway of Edmiston Drive will be unaffected and remain open as usual.

The carriageway closure will enable Scottish Water to carry out important investigative work as part of the Glasgow Resilience Project which involves the installation of seven miles of new pipes to connect the Glasgow area’s water network and the system in Ayrshire.

Scottish Water say this will increase resilience and protect supplies for about one million customers.

The new water main is being installed in the Ibrox, Mosspark, Pollok, Priesthill, Nitshill and Parkhouse areas of Glasgow.

The project is being delivered for Scottish Water by Caledonia Water Alliance, their alliance partner and is expected to be completed in 2023.

Scottish Water said: "We apologise for any inconvenience and thank affected road users in advance for their patience and understanding."
