A POLLOKSHIELDS road has reopened following emergency repairs on a gas main.

Engineers have confirmed the work on St Andrew's Drive has been completed almost a week after the alarm was raised.

Officials shut down the road between Maxwell Drive and Shields Road on Tuesday, working through the night before reopening a section of it the following day.

One lane remained closed for the rest of the week to allow engineers to restore the road surface.

Glasgow City Council traffic bosses have now confirmed it has reopened fully in all directions.

Waseem Hanif, a spokesperson for SGN, said: "We carried out emergency repairs to our gas main in St Andrews Drive, near St Andrews Crescent, in the Pollokshields area of Glasgow.

"For everyone’s safety, we temporarily closed St Andrews Drive both ways on Tuesday, February 23.
