Actor John Barrowman has shown his solidarity for fellow Glaswegian Lawrence Chaney after the drag queen was targeted by "abusive" trolls.

The Drag Race UK star deleted his Twitter account after facing vile online abuse.

Lawrence Chaney deactivated his social media account @ShadyLawrence following Thursday's episode which saw a dramatic showdown between the Glasgow queen and fellow Scot Ellie Diamond.

The Glasgow-born Torchwood star slammed the abuse as "disgusting and unforgivable".

He addressed the trolls who led Lawrence to delete his Twitter and said: "You clearly missed the point of @dragraceukbbc and what it stands for; Inclusivity, Pride, Fun, Family, T and a bit of Shade.

"Online abuse is disgusting and unforgivable. Love Ya Lawrence."

During Thursday's episode, Lawrence accused Ellie Diamond of trying to set her up by placing her behind her comedy rival Bimini in a stand-up challenge.

Norwisch drag Bimini Bon Boulash defended Lawrence on Twitter and wrote: "This is a @shadylawrence stan account and you all need to realise it isn't that deep. It's a television show. If you support me please don't tear others down!"
