A PERVERT on the sex offenders register for life was caught speaking to what he believed were three schoolgirls.

Paul Whyte, 54, was instead talking to a vigilante group posing as two 13-year-olds and a 12-year-old in Glasgow in July 2020.

Whyte, using the name 'Garyshark' met the 'decoys' on social media websites Tagged and Google Hangouts.

Prosecutor Mhairi Alexander told Glasgow Sheriff Court: “His chat was sexualised and would state the sexual activity he would like to take place.”

Whyte made also made comments such as: “Don’t tell your mum about this” and he would treat them like a daughter.

He was later arrested following a sting by the vigilante group at Glasgow Central train station.

Whyte pleaded guilty to attempting to communicate sexually with children and breaching the terms of his sex offenders register order.

It was revealed has a High Court conviction for sexual offences from 2008 and is on the register for life.

Sentence was deferred until next month for background reports by Sheriff Sean Murphy QC.

Whyte, of Paisley, Renfrewshire, had his remand in custody continued meantime.
