There have been 639 new Covid-19 cases and eight further deaths in the past 24 hours. 

The latest coronavirus figures in Scotland show 479 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed Covid-19. 

Of those people, 38 were receiving intensive care. 

It comes after 23,284  new tests reported results with a positivity rate of 3.4%. 

A total of 1,867,123 people have now received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, with 149,409 people also getting a second dose.

This Saturday marks a year since the first coronavirus death in Scotland

According to the NRS, 9,725 people have had Covid-19 cited on their death certificate up to March 7. 

The Scottish Government has now backed plans for a National Day of Reflection on March 23 to pay tribute to those who lost their lives to the virus. 

March 23, 2021 will mark the one year anniversary of the first lockdown in Scotland.
