A THUG attacked his ex-lover and left her with a permanently misshapen nose.

Scott Joyce, 38, pounced on the woman outside their flat in Glasgow's Drumchapel on June 7 2020.

The gas engineer repeatedly punched her on the head and body before throwing her against a wall.

Joyce - who already had two previous domestic convictions against the woman - pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

The pair were together for 20 years but had split in December 2019.

The woman was at a neighbour's flat in the early hours of the morning on the day of the attack.

The neighbour was contacted by Joyce wondering where she was.

Banging was later heard coming from the woman's property and she went to investigate.

Prosecutor Hannah Terrance said: "Joyce grabbed her by the neck and top she was wearing and threw her around.

"Joyce then pushed her and punched her on the face.

"(The woman) shouted phone the police in order to get help.

"Joyce let go and she told him that she was going to get him arrested for assault.

"Joyce punched her to her face and neck then threw her against a wall before he kicked her on the head and body.

"(The woman) screamed for help and she claimed the attack lasted five minutes."

The woman was taken to hospital meantime for treatment for a wound to the back of her head which was closed with glue.

Miss Terrance added: "She had a possible nose fracture but didn't remain in hospital for further treatment.

"She said as a result of the incident, her nose has been left misshapen."

Sentence was deferred until next month for background reports by Sheriff Martin Jones QC who bailed Joyce, now living in his parent's house in Milngavie, meantime.
